operated by vertical movement of the drillpipe, the weight of the pipe effectively opens the tester and sets the packer. Raising the drill pipe closes the tester.

Features of DST Hydrospring Tester
- The hydrospring is opened easily by slacking off drill pipe weight
- When the hydrospring tester opens, it will give an indication at the surface
- Fewer assembilies required to combine the tester valve and bypass.
Operation of DST Hydrospring Tester
When positioning the tester valve for opening, it will record initial hydrostatic mud weight clearly on the pressure chart during the time interval . The hydrospring tester with an indexing J-slot, does not have a built-in bypass. If bypass is desired, the LOC bypass can be used. Repeated opening and closing of the tester valve for closed-in and flow periods is done by reciprocating the pipe. The indexing J-slot will automatically index so when every alternative time weight is set down, the tester valve will remain closed
